About Us
Pentland Triathletes Juniors train in Forrester High School, every Sunday 15.00 to 17.00 during school term.
We are a standalone Triathlon Scotland affiliated Junior triathlete club this means we do not have a senior section so the majority of coaching is done with age peers.
Numbers wise we are a club of ca 60 athletes ( 8yo to 17yo+) and 9 qualified coaches. We run our own Aquathlons and Triathlons as well as attending Triathlon Scotland /other Triathlon Club sponsored events in Edinburgh, Fife, Glasgow & Dundee.
Our 2hr weekly coaching sessions incorporate the standard triathlon elements of swim, cycle, run except for during the winter where we run indoor circuit training and strength and conditioning sessions in place of the outdoor bike and run. This changes in the brighter months where we run regular extra sessions of trail running, bike circuits, open water swimming and mountain biking. Bike circuit training and some of the open water swimming events have been held in partnership with the junior section of East Fife Triathlon club.
Training and coaching is structured into three distinct groups, PTJ Academy, Group 2 and Group 3, these groups are structured along age and ability. There are separate training plans and dedicated coaches for each of these groups.
Our History
Our club was founded by Niall Darroch and Marian Caves back in 2016 and were both members of Pentland Triathletes Adult Club. They found that kids were interested in getting into the sport which has lead to a junior section being formed. what started out with a few young kids has now developed into a larger club with a range of abilities to suit anyone wanting to give it a try.
